PubMed® Adds Book Citations and Changes to Displays

PubMed search results now include citations for select books from the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) Bookshelf. Results will include citations for the book and each chapter or section of the book. When you search in PubMed, the results will bring up both article results and book results. What used to be the Related articles link next to each results citation has been renamed Related citations to account for this change.

When you click on a book result, the summary display will include links to each section within the book. Books and book chapters are not connected to PubMed's MeSH (Medical Subject Heading) vocabulary search terms. Therefore searches that limit with MeSH terms will not retrieve book citations in the results.
